Garden ornaments come in many guises. This wee dog and his welcome tag sat outside my house on the day I first got the keys. Ten years on though he may be #kitsch he is still a welcoming #totem. A symbol of home and security.
By contrast the eye catchingly poignant sculpture I encountered on my adventures in London this week. Rabbitgirl and Dogman is a powerful artwork symbolising unity and acceptance. Animal totems in our outdoor spaces can convey meaning on so many levels.
"Rabbitgirl and Dogman, have a dream that open hearts and open minds can come together over a warm cup of coffee to promote diversity, love, and acceptance."
Which seems especially relevant at this time in a society where division and disagreement seem to dominate.
Near by a cleverly designed brimming fish pond brings more contemplative calm in the eye of this storm.
How we respect and value our environment be it a garden, an urban square, or an ocean couldn't be more important right now.
Sorry if this turned into a rant but I saw 3 lovely things and the connection seemed incontestable.
